TrendSpottr Widgets let you display the top trending content for any search query on your website, blog or social network page. TrendSpottr Widgets are ideal for content sites, bloggers and brands that wish to engage their audience with the most timely, engaging and trending content for any topic or keyword.
How do I create a TrendSpottr Widget?
Creating a TrendSpottr Widget is really easy. Just enter a keyword, topic or phrase in the Search Query field (e.g., Social Media, Music, #EdTech, $aapl, @barackobama, etc.) and create a title for your widget. Customize the color and size of your widget by selecting from the Appearance and Dimensions menus. TrendSpottr will then generate a preview of your customized TrendSpottr Widget. Click "Finish & Grab Code", then copy and paste the widget code into any HTML page to display your customized TrendSpottr Widget.
What type of content is displayed in the TrendSpottr Widget?
Your TrendSpottr Widget will display the top trending content (ie., articles, links, videos, photos, etc.) for your search query. The widget will display a thumbnail image (if available) for the trending content, the headline text, the source domain for the trending content, a brief content snippet, the content's Trending Score and Recent Posts.
The Trending Score is an indicator of the relative trending velocity and predicted viral growth of the content. The top trending content will always have a Trending Score of 100 with all other content ranked and displayed in descending order of Trending Score.
The Recent Posts display recent tweets related to each piece of trending content.
How are TrendSpottr Widgets different from Twitter's Search Widget?
Twitter's search widget displays a real-time chronological stream of all the tweets for a search query. This is really useful for viewing each and every tweet about a particular topic or keyword. However, it also creates a lot of noise and provides little in the way of insights.
TrendSpottr Widgets display the top real-time trending content for a search query. While TrendSpottr Widgets don't show every tweet about a topic or keyword, they provide invaluable predictive insights about emerging trends (e.g., news, events, people) that have high velocity and predicted growth. TrendSpottr Widgets also provide a much easier way for your website visitors and blog subscribers to view and consume the most timely, important and engaging content right on your site.
Are TrendSpottr Widgets free to use?
Yes, create as many TrendSpottr Widgets as you'd like absolutely for free. The current free version is branded with a TrendSpottr logo and may over time include advertising or other sponsored marketing. A premium version of TrendSpottr Widgets will launch soon and will provide publishers with an ad-free, white label version that they can brand and display on their sites.
What are some helpful tips and tricks?
Using the "OR" search operator can help refine the results for your TrendSpottr Widget. For example, the following search query, $appl OR iPhone, will create a TrendSpottr Widget that will display and rank trending content for both terms. You can also use the "OR" search operator to include both the keyword and related hashtag for your search query. For example, creating a TrendSpottr Widget for Breaking News OR #breakingnews will ensure that your widget will display trending content for both related terms.
Tumblr users can embed TrendSpottr Widgets directly in their posts. Select "Video" from your Tumblr Dashboard and paste the TrendSpottr Widget code in the "Embed a Video" tab. Click "Create Post" and your TrendSpottr Widget will display on your Tumblog and in your Dashboard.
